Self Care Calendar Challenge

This page is a monthly calendar with daily self care activities.  It is meant to challenge us to try new ways of taking care of our needs.  It is also meant to be a reminder to take a few moments daily for ourselves.

June

  1. Journal Thursday: How will your routine change for the summer?
  2. Talk with your children/significant other/ friend about your favorite summer memories.
  3. Accomplish something you have been wanting to do.

  4. Do something to connect with your spiritual side.
  5. Meditation Monday: Spend time meditating.  Notice your thoughts and visualize them flying away.
  6. Get Moving Tuesday: Do something to prepare for a summer fitness activity.  For example buy a swimsuit, bike helmet, or register for a  fitness class.
  7. Enjoy a few minutes watching something in nature for example birds or squirrels.
  8. Journal Thursday:  If you were a superhero, what amazing thing(s) would you be able to do?
  9. Find several healthy recipes for the summer and try one out.
  10. Do something to connect with your creative side.

  11. Do something to treat yourself.
  12. Meditation Monday:  Spend a few minutes sitting with your eyes shut and focus on what you hear and smell around you.
  13. Get Moving Tuesday:  Share with your family and/or friend(s) how you maintain a healthy body.  For example talk about it, exercise together, or cook a healthy meal/snack together.
  14. Do some cloud watching.  Take photos of the sky if you desire.
  15. Journal Thursday:  What would you like to learn over the summer?
  16. Have a “Make your own ice cream sundae” social with your family and/or friends.
  17. Explore vacation ideas in other states.

  18. Do something fun with your father, grandfather, or children’s father.
  19. Meditation Monday:  Try a walking meditation at a park, beach, or your own backyard.  Pay attention to the sensations you feel when you walk.
  20. Get Moving Tuesday: Accomplish one of your summer fitness activities such as swimming, bike riding,  hiking, yoga outside, or Tai Chi outside.
  21. Let the warrior inside of you out today.  Do something to show support for a cause important to you.
  22. Journal Thursday:  What are you thankful for this week?
  23. Do something nice for a friend.
  24. Take your creativity outside for a project.

  25. Research what you can do with essential oils.  If you have some try making a new recipe.
  26. Meditation Monday:  Create an outdoor space you can meditate in this summer.
  27. Get Moving Tuesday:  Remember to drink plenty of water as you obtain your fitness goals today.  Young living makes some great vitality oils to add to your glass/ceramic/metal water bottle such as vitality lemon, vitality orange, vitality lime, and vitality peppermint!
  28. Take time to just sit and relax doing something you enjoy such as reading or puzzle books.
  29. Journal Thursday:  What new activity did you try this month that you would like to incorporate into your weekly routines?
  30. Celebrate your accomplishments for this month with family and/or friends.

April

  1. De-clutter one of your personal spaces

  2. Unplug for 1 hour ( No electronics, TV, Phone, computers, social media, etc.)
  3. Mindful Monday: Create a sacred feel – burn incense or use an essential oil diffuser- sit still & observe.
  4. Get Moving Tuesday: Try a a new exercise video on u-tube or a new exercise class.
  5. Smile
  6. Journal Thursday: Write a letter to someone telling them how much you appreciate them.
  7. Do a crossword, fill in, word find, soduko, or logic puzzle.
  8. Clean out a dresser/closet and bag items for a yard sale or donation.

  9. DIY- Make your own spa day item.
  10.  Mindful Monday:  Meditate or pray for 10 minutes.
  11. Get Moving Tuesday:  Take a walk in nature.
  12. Put fresh flowers in your home.
  13. Journal Thursday:  Write down a few of your favorite inspirational quotes.
  14. Enjoy a picnic lunch or supper.  You can do this outside or put a blanket down inside if the weather isn’t appropriate.
  15. Paint a ceramic, picture, shirt, etc.

  16. Paint your nails a fun way for Easter!
  17. Mindful Monday:  Take a few moments to mindfully (Use several of your senses) observe things that we associate with Spring.
  18. Get Moving Tuesday: Ride a bike either indoor(exercise bike) or outdoor.
  19. Complete a random act of kindness.
  20. Journal Thursday: Make a list of your positive qualities.
  21. Celebrate Earth Day by doing a DIY project for it.
  22. Get started on a family garden (herb, flower, vegetable, etc.)

  23. Enjoy doing something by candle light.
  24.  Mindful Monday: Sit still and observe your thoughts & emotions.
  25. Get Moving Tuesday:  Take your Yoga or other exercise outside if the weather is nice.
  26.  Read for at least 15 minutes.
  27. Journal Thursday:  What improvements would you like to make to your home?
  28.   Get together with a friend for a fun activity of your choosing.
  29.   Get something done that is irritating you.

  30.  Treat yourself to something you want to do.

March

  1. Breathe 6 deep breaths.
  2. Journal Thursday:  Create an event list such as birthdays or obscure national holidays.
  3. Make a bucket list/poster with your immediate family for Spring/Summer fun.
  4. Use a calendar to get organized for the months activities, meal planning, etc.

  5. Enjoy your favorite shower gels, lotions, after shave, etc.
  6. Mindful Monday: Drink a cup of tea/ hot drink mindfully.  What flavor did you choose?
  7. Get Moving Tuesday: Do some Yoga.
  8. Use a candle to relax.
  9. Journal Thursday: Make a list/collage of funny things that happened to you.
  10. Hang out with friends/family doing something you enjoy.
  11. Create your own vision board.

  12. Cuddle up with a soft blanket and do something relaxing.
  13. Mindful Monday:  Touch scavenger hunt- touch something soft, smooth, cold, warm, rough, fuzzy, etc.
  14. Get Moving Tuesday: How many crunches can you do in a minute?
  15. Compliment yourself
  16. Journal Thursday: What excites you about your future?
  17. Reach out and wish a friend a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
  18. Practice a hobby.

  19. Try Meditation.
  20. Mindful Monday: Post a favorite positive affirmation where you will see it daily.
  21. Get Moving Tuesday: Take a walk.
  22. Listen to your favorite music.
  23. Journal Thursday: Fill an entire page with doodles using your favorite colored pens, pencils, etc.
  24. Mindfully prepare a healthy nutritious meal.
  25. Organize something that has been irritating your.

  26. Read for fun (Poetry, comic, magazine, blog, etc.)
  27. Mindful Monday: Sit outside ( or in a window) and enjoy the sights & sounds of the outdoors.
  28. Get Moving Tuesday: Get moving with your significant other or friend such as dance, walk, run, exercise class, etc.
  29. Lay down, close your eyes, relax…..think of something/ some place that makes you happy.
  30. Journal Thursday: What were your successes this month?
  31. Family/Friend night: Play a favorite game or do an activity you enjoyed as a child.

 

 

February

  1. Register for a class or workshop on something that interests you just for fun.  Examples: crafting, computer, baking
  2. journal: Describe or draw a caricature of a person you admire & why you admire them.
  3. Create a self care package and give/mail to a friend you think could use it.
  4. Get Creative: Paint a ceramic, scrapbook, knit, or crochet.

  5. Give yourself a facial
  6. Try guided meditation.
  7. Sign up for or try out a fitness class such as yoga, pilates, tai chi, or zumba.
  8. Light a candle.  Watch the flame flicker.  Take in any scent.
  9. Journal:  Write yourself a love letter describing what you admire about yourself.
  10. Get Creative:  Create a collage representing “The Real Me”
  11. Read some poetry.

  12. Take a bubble bath.
  13. Give yourself a hug while thinking about what you like about yourself.
  14. Take a walk and photograph beautiful things in nature.
  15. Take out your favorite pens and doodle.
  16. Journal:  Write a poem about a beautiful memory of yours.
  17. Go out with a friend for a coffee, breakfast, or lunch date.
  18. Organize something in your house that has been irritating you.

  19. Cuddle up on the sofa with a warm blanket, hot cocoa, and a relaxing activity such as a book, movie, or crossword book.
  20.   Look at the sky and admire it.  How would you describe it?
  21.   Put on your favorite music and sing/dance to it.
  22.   Give yourself a compliment.
  23.  Journal:  Try art journaling.
  24.   Host a family/friend game night.
  25.   Watch a TED Talk or documentary.

  26.   Paint your nails.
  27.   Put on your favorite lotion.  How does it feel?  How does it smell?  How does it make you feel?
  28.   Get Moving:  Learn a new yoga pose or stretching exercise.
