My Path To OOLA

Hello! I’m back from my long break from writing! Let me reintroduce myself. I’m Wendy Sprous. I am divorced and have 3 grown children. I dedicated my life to raising my awesome children. There were many challenges that we had to deal with as a family including High Functioning Autism, ADD, Social Anxiety, Selective Mutism, Food allergy, Hearing Loss, and even a Twice Exceptional kid which is one that is both gifted and has learning disabilities. As a family we’ve overcome so much. The kids have all grown up to be admirable adults! One has a college degree and a job she loves. Another found a job in retail doing what they love. The third graduated high school last year at the age of 17 just like I had done! They are now in college. I couldn’t be prouder of my kids.

My Struggle

A few years ago I went through a divorce. My two youngest kids decided to move from the East Coast to the West Coast to be with their father. My oldest daughter and I were stuck living in a huge house that only had my ex’s name on the deed. We didn’t have the means to keep it heated so we actually wore coats, hats, and gloves in the house. The house leaked so badly that the ceiling caved in on one of the rooms! I learned that the words “Sell As Is” meant my ex would not do any of the much needed repairs. He even quit paying the mortgage so my oldest and I were dealing with the barrage of foreclosure notices that I was not able to do anything about due to my name not being on any of it. Living conditions were quite depressing. I felt hopeless because I was under a court order to stay there until the house (that wasn’t selling even after a year on the market!) sold.

If the living conditions weren’t enough, traumatic events kept happening! The house was located on a busy intersection. We’ld seen our share of accidents over the years, but suddenly they became more frequent and more traumatic. During the course of just 2 years, I experience some of the worst accidents ever. You know….the kind that everyone thinks will never happen to them because they rarely occur? One morning I was sitting at the table doing work on my laptop when suddenly there was a huge boom sound and the electricity was suddenly cut off. I ran outside to find that a garbage truck had crossed my drive taking out a utility pole before running over my neighbor that was in his yard doing yardwork! The images were horrifying and I saw him die on scene. I thought I was ok with with that, but then on Thanksgiving morning at 1:00 am I awoke to a loud noise and my house being shook. A car had crashed into another car before crashing into the house right underneath where I had been sleeping! These things rarely happen right? But my brain was now saying it happens frequently in my world and should be on the lookout for when it happens again. Sure enough my brain seemed to be right and another bad accident happened! In that accident a motorcyclist flew over a car it crashed into and into a stone wall on the sidewalk. After the medics got him to our local hospital and stabilized, he was life flighted in critical condition to another hospital. Needless to say I’ve battled some major depression, anxiety, and PTSD in the past couple of years. I think you can understand why the blog got put on the sidebar for the last couple of years now.

My Comeback

How did I come back from all of that? I researched just as I had done with all the other diagnosis my family had dealt with to learn everything I could about what I was dealing with. I reached out to my doctor and now have an awesome medical team! I reached out to supportive friendships. I took a Young Living 6 week essential oil class where I learned to use the oils to help manage my emotional, mental, and physical symptoms. I literally worked hard every moment of the day and night to continue to move forward with my life.

After seeing an Oola Infuse 7 essential oil kit sold by Young Living, I researched Oola. My life definitely needed this! While reading Oola Find Balance In An Unbalanced World by Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl, I started to apply their concepts to my life. It really helped me stay on track with moving forward in my life. When they announced their new Oola Life Coaching program, it was a no brainer. I had been looking at life coaching for awhile, so I knew this was what I wanted to become. While I’m always eager to help my friends with their lives, I wanted to be able to earn a living doing what I loved doing with my friends…..Overcoming Their Obstacles!

What Is OOLA?

Oola is a state of awesome! How cool is that? We all strive for that moment when everything just seems right in our world. It could be as simple as relaxing with a book you’ve been wanting to read or as complex as getting a well earned promotion in your job.
